Administration
The activities of the BIA are overseen by the BIA Board of Directors. The Board meets regularly and is responsible for addressing property owner concerns, monitoring activities and developing annual programs, rates, and budgets. The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce provides day-to-day management and administrative services.

Maintenance
The BIA maintenance crew cleans sidewalks, gutters,  graffiti and other common areas throughout the 84-blocks of the BIA at least once per week. Higher traffic areas are cleaned twice per week.

Security
The BIA Security Patrol provides a security presence through every block of the BIA daily. The radio-directed patrols are available on call each day from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m.. BIA Patrol services are coordinated with the Tacoma Piloce Department, University of Washington Tacoma security and other public and private security agencies to provide maximum flexibility in response to BIA needs.

Community Relations
The BIA continually seeks to support its ratepayers' goal of preserving and enhancing property values by highlighting the downtown BIA as a desirable area in which to work, live, conduct business and shop.
